Songsheet Generator is an application which prints songsheets and songbooks for home, small group, or large group overhead use. It will also create text and HTML files, and present song lyrics in a Full Screen mode which can be projected for large group use.
Songsheet Generator was originally inspired by and still uses a song file format compatible with a program called Chord. Chord was a UNIX-oriented command-line program written by Martin Leclerc and Mario Dorion, and circulated on the Internet. This program is not based on the original source code of Chord, and has not implemented all of its features, but it generally is much friendlier to use, and offers many new and improved features.
Songhseet Generator uses special mark-up tags in files to automatically format songs, which takes the work out of manually managing songs in a word processor, and working out how to fit them on a page. The song file format used by the Chord program is now commonly referred to as the ChordPro format. ChordPro files are text files with special mark-up tags. These files are easy to create from scratch, but many songs may be found on the Internet.
Songsheet Generator runs on Microsoft Windows (native .exe), Mac OS X (Java-based native .app), and any platform that supports Java (.jar file).
